MCTXSheriff Arrest Two for Theft from New Caney Stores
On September 13, 2018, at about 1152 hours, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Ulta Beauty Store located at 21524 Market Place Dr, New Caney, TX in reference to a theft. Deputies were advised that there were two black males inside the store cutting price tags off of cologne and then placing the items in their pockets. The suspects left in a white in color Kia passenger car, which responding Deputies located trying to leave the parking lot. Deputies stopped the suspect vehicle and identified the driver as Howard Peters and the passenger as Deon Washington.
During the investigation, Deputies reviewed the store's video surveillance video, which showed both suspects concealing bottles of cologne in their pockets. During a search of the vehicle, Deputies located seven bottles of cologne were located in under the driver's seat and in the glovebox. Deputies also found, 11 Nike shirts, 1 Nike shorts and 2 pairs of Nike shoes, which still had Academy price tags. Deputies reviewed video surveillance from the Academy Sports store, located at 21770 Market Place Dr. and again observed both suspects removing clothes from the store racks and concealing the items under their clothes.
The suspects, stole about $683 worth of property from Ulta Beauty, and about $349 worth of property from The Academy Sports.
